FCS Developmental Teams are formed beginning at the U9 age group. U9 & U10 teams will begin the 2012-2013 season playing inter-club games with the US Youth Soccer recommended 6 v 6 small-sided games. Although these teams play 8 v 8 in the Pima County Junior Soccer League, and a couple of tournaments, the emphasis is placed on player development. Players are coached to compete. However, winning the match will not be the coach’s top priority.
At U12, teams begin playing the full 11 v 11 game, which we still consider a developmental year as they become accustommed to the larger pitch, with six more players on the field.
FC Sonora has developmental teams, boys and girls, U9-U13, in Tucson and Sahuarita.
